Animated Short Oscar Nominees 4/5 - La Luna

Normally seen I would've saved this one last to share, as it's most likely to win the Oscars. I have two reasons for this: only the opening shot is available and in my opinion the animation short that I'll be showing tomorrow deserves some spotlight. Don't get me wrong, I love Pixar and their short films and it probably deserves to win, but I'd LOVE to see a short film win the Oscars that wasn't from a blockbuster film company. I'm just hoping it'll not be a popularity contest. Then again I haven't seen La Luna and haven't seen the other so who am I to judge at this point! Maybe La Luna deserves to win.

La Luna, animated short by Pixar, will be shown in cinemas right before the movie Brave. And from seeing the clip I have to say it's looking fun and interesting! I'll have to go and see Brave anyway, but I'll be looking forward to seeing La Luna, too!

Synopsis:
La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family’s most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?
