This is probably the best known on my list of awesome initiatives. The 11 second club hosts monthly animation contests in which animators compete in making an animation to an audio file provided by the website. The entries can be 2D, 3D hand animated, Mocapped or stop motion. Animation Mentor (which is an online animation school) provides the winner with an e-critique which everyone can watch.
Next to that they have a forum where animators share their work (in progresses) and give comments. It's a very open community as far as I've experienced and everyone's very willing to help.
They also have a blog which is hosted by members of the 11 second club.
